NEW DELHI: Ahead of International day of Girl child, LG Electronics, India’s leading consumer durable brand, pledged support towards education of the girl child by signing an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Kendriya Sainik. As part of its ‘Kar Salaam’ CSR initiative,LG Electronics donated 1 crore contribution to Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) under Kendriya Sainik Board Secretiat (KSB SECTT), a nodal organization of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence. The donation will be utilised for education of the girl child of Martys and ex-service men. AFFDF is dedicated to welfare of war widows, children of martyr’s, war disabled soldiers & Ex-servicemen.
LG Electronics has been working on a number of CSR initiatives to help the community in every possible aspect and reaffirm its commitment towards the people. In these precarious and financially challenging times, LG Electronics is trying to support the dependents of our brave martyrs & their families by providing access to education to their girl child. Kar Salaam initiative was started 3 years ago by LG Electronics, dedicated to the soldiers of India to salute their spirit of generous contribution and service towards the nation.
Commenting on the occasion, Young Lak Kim- MD -LG Electronics India said, “The education of the girl child has the ability to bring socio-economic changesand through this initiative, we aim to provide financial support to the cause and help in bringing a positive change to the world. On this International day of Girl child, we want to inspire the young generation, especially girls, who want to be a partner of social change and help them in achieving their dreams. “We are extremely thankful to Kendriya Sainik Board for implementing this initiative.” he added.
