Malayalam and Kannada GECs witness viewership growth on the back of Original Episodes

The airing of original episodes for Malayalam GECs started from week 24 (weekdays), and week 22 (weekdays) for Kannada.

Mumbai: Good times seem to have returned for Malayalam and Kannada GECs with the original episodes being aired on television. The airing of original episodes for Malayalam general entertainment channels (GECs) started from week 24 (weekdays), and week 22 (weekdays) for Kannada GECs. In Kerala market, all prime time shows started airing from week 24.

In the Kannada market, Colors Kannada witnessed a huge growth in viewership (163%) followed by Zee Kannada (114%) and Star Suvarna (89%) as compared to previous 4 weeks. While Colors Kannada clocked 73.89 million impressions, up from 28.09 million impressions, Zee Kannada grew from 70.15 million impressions to 149.84 million impressions. Star Suvarna too grew in this period from 17.84 million impressions to 33.76 million impressions. On the back of new episodes,Zee Kannada was able to reach to 17.66 million unique viewers followed by Colors Kannada reaching 10.92 million unique viewers and Star Suvarnareaching 10.31 million unique viewers.


In the Malayalam market, Asianet saw a tremendous growth in viewership with 93% as compared to previous 4 weeks with 108.37 million impressions up from 56.25 million impressions. The channel reached out to a total of 10.92 million unique viewers up by 17%. Zee Keralam was the next channel to witness growth on the back of original episodes. The viewership was up by 47% going up from 15.54 million impressions to 22.85 million impressions. The channel reached 3.20 million unique viewers a growth of 15% as compared to previous 4 weeks.
