The 6th edition of BARC and Nielsen’s report titled Crisis Consumption: An Insight Series into TV, Smartphones and audiences shows the difference in consumption patterns of consumers from the Pre-COVID period (11th Jan’20 to 31st Jan’20) and during-COVID period (18th April’20 to 24th April ’20).
Interestingly, in week 16, it has been observed a drop in the viewership of Ramayanas the series has transitioned into Uttar Ramayan on Doordarshan. The drop primarily has been seen in the 9 AM timing in week 16 due to repeat of Uttar Ramayan.
Morning Viewers moved to news, kids and music content while the evening viewers moved to other GEC and movies. In the prime time band viewers preferred more GEC and movies. While an interesting fact that came out in the report was that viewers in the prime-time band shifted from DD to other GECs to watch Mythological Dramas.
