New Delhi: The News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) has expressed its deep concerns over the unfortunate reports of more than 50 journalists of electronic media, particularly camera persons, testing positive for the presence of COVID-19, in Mumbai. It has also received reports of similar instances in other parts of the country including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
NBF also expressed its solidarity with the journalists and camerapersons who act as frontier warriors, risking their lives to disseminate the right information and counter the barrage of fake news, about the pandemic and the ensuing lockdown to reaching out to the largest part of India’s 1.3 billion people and stall the spread of this deadly virus.
“While eagerly awaits the advisory to be released shortly by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; NBF urged media organizations and journalists to take adequate care and maintain social distancing during their line of duty. NBF will extend all necessary support to the affected people,” stated NBF Secretariat in its statement.
