Due to the scare of coronavirus, it has been come to notice that Prasar Bharti has put the MPEG-2 slot e-auction of DD Free Dish for suspension in view of several precautionary measures. The broadcasting agency had invited applications for private satellite TV channels to fill up vacant MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform for the period from 01.04.2020 to 31.03.2021.
The last date for submission of applications was 30th March latest by 3 pm.
As per media reports, Prasar Bharti Director-DTH said in a notice that “Keeping in view several precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, it is hereby informed that the receipt of applications from TV channels and allocation process will remain in abeyance till further intimation,”
Recently, Prasar Bharati had made up a whopping Rs 594.25 crore from the sale of DD Free Dish MPEG-2 slots to 53 channels during the 44th e-auction that was completed on 28th February.
