How different is Tata Sky Hits from Tata Sky Binge?
Tata Sky Hits is one of our newest value-added content services that has been tailor-made for the discerning viewers of English content. The property includes hit shows from the 80s and 90s such as Baywatch, Knight Rider, The Lucy Show, Charlie’s Angels and many more on a single platform and all in HD. Along with linear TV the service is also available on Tata Sky mobile app under exclusives.
Tata Sky Binge on the other hand is one of its kind OTT platforms that offer an aggregated bundled subscription to a number of OTT apps such as Hotstar, Zee5, Sun Next, Eros Now & Hungama Play via a single platform. The subscription also includes 3 months free trial of Prime Video and Amazon FireTV stick Tata Sky edition at no extra cost through which the content can be enjoyed. The monthly subscription for this is currently INR 249. With Binge our endeavour is to satiate the needs of our ever-evolving subscribers who are always on the lookout for various content.
How did the association with Rewind Networks happen?
Rewind Networks has successfully established Hits as a property across South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.). So when they approached us to explore a partnership possibility and foray into the Indian market, it seemed like an interesting proposition to dive into.
Giants like Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar also have a library that offers content from the ’80s and 90s, how would Tata Sky Hits be different?
The shows on Hits have been curated in a manner that it doesn’t have any overlap with content on any of the OTT platforms or linear channels. For now, they are exclusively available on Tata Sky Hits. We have some popular flagship shows like Baywatch, Miami Vice, The Lucy Show, Charlie’s Angels etc. which are a part of this service.
What are some key consumption trends across original content that you are creating very aggressively?
Indian viewers have a huge appetite for consuming all genres of content as long as it has a gripping storyline or a value proposition. We are a platform that primarily aggregates content and are always on the lookout for iconic/popular shows that can be bundled together and presented to our subscribers. One of our key focus areas is to also create exciting consumer propositions for our customers across genres along with the partners we work with. Some of our recent offerings like Tata Sky Theatre, Hollywood Local, Seniors were launched keeping in mind the specific needs of our subscribers who want customized services tailor-made for them. Tata Sky Hits yet again is a step towards that direction.
2020 will see more such service offerings that will either satiate their specific pursuit towards a hobby/ leisure or their entertainment needs to be curated across platforms and bundled on Tata Sky.
Which are the focus areas for Tata Sky in 2020?
As a company that has been growing phenomenally, we are always looking to innovate our products and services to cater to our ever-evolving consumers. To provide entertainment to all segments of our customers on both large screens and on the go and across content genres shall continue to be our key focus in 2020.
Some interesting announcements are there in the pipeline as we approach the new FY.
We will talk about them when the time is right.
