Chennai: Aval Vikatan, the No. 1 Women Magazine in Tamil had organised the 3rd Aval Awards recently in Chennai. Aval Awards instituted in the year 2017 to celebrate and recognise the role and contributions of women in various walks of life. The award categories include Social work, Civil Service, Healthcare, Public service, Eco Warriors, Farming enthusiast, entrepreneurship and Acting, etc. Some Awardees are well recognised in the civic society, while many others had trodden their path but were relatively unknown beyond their fields. The Aval Vikatan team had done an extensive research to identify such personalities and not only recognised their unsung contribution but also celebrated their success & showcased them as a role model to the larger audience.
The Awardees includes Dr. V. Shantha, awarded with “Thamizh Annai” (Mother of Tamil), a nonagenarian healthcare person in the cancer space for her untiring crusade against cancer, to a relatively unknown healthcare worker Dr. Anurathna, Chief Doctor of Govt Hospital in a rural district who goes beyond her call of duty to servicewomen and tribal people and counsel them family wellness, women healthcare, alcohol de-addiction, etc. Dr. Anurathna was awarded “Sevai Devadhai” (Service Angel Award).
Similarly, an IAS officer, Innocent Divya, who was awarded with “Manbumigu Adhigari” (Most Eminent and Respected Officer) who had stood against ecological degradation & championed many projects that helped in the restoration of the ecological balance in the hill district of Nilgiris to Tamil Selvi, a woman farmer in rural TN was awarded with “Pasumai Pen” who had treaded the greener path in showcasing the agricultural prosperity for health & wellness.
The versatile and vociferous Actor Khushbu, who had a crazy fan following that had promised to build a Temple in her name, was awarded with “Evergreen Naayagi” (Evergreen Personality) for her contributions in Cinema, TV Anchor, social work, politics and support to Women’s empowerment, freedom of expression etc. to a retired college professor and cancer survivor Prof. Mohana awarded as “Super Woman” for untiringly working towards spreading cancer awareness amongst women and igniting science education amongst kids and played an active role in Tamil Nadu Science Forum & literacy movement.
There are over 16 categories where women of such exemplary qualities and outstanding contributions in various fields were awarded by Aval Vikatan. The other awardees are Swarnalatha as “Seyal Puyal”, Narthagi as “Kalainayagi”, Reshma Nilofer as “Singapenn”, Kalaiselvi as “Best Mom”, Jerlin Anika as “Little Champion”, Anjana Jayaprakash as “Youth Star”, Sagaya Brigida as ”Viral Star”, Krishnaveni as “Kalvi Devadhai”, Madhu Saran as “Business Queen” and Vennila as “Ilakkiya Aalumai”.
This year’s star-studded award show was anchored and conceptualised by an all-women crew which comprised of journalists, photographers, researchers, marketing & ad sales, event managers and other support staff is the key highlight of Aval Awards 2019.
The ‘Presenting Sponsor’ was Prithvi Inner Wears, a lingerie brand from TN, while Meera Shampoo, the market leader from CavinKare & SPR CITY, a premium real estate developer in Chennai was the ‘Powered-By Sponsors’ for Aval Awards 2019. Aval Awards 2019 is scheduled for telecast on Zee Tamil, on March 8, Sunday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
