Mumbai: After achieving an unadisputed leadership in the Kannada GEC genre withZee Kannada, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) is set to further strengthen its foothold in Karnataka, this time with the soon-to-be launched Kannada movie channel Zee Picchar. The channel is the network’s seventh television property in the Southern region and the third movie channel in the South after Zee Cinemalu and Zee Thirai. The launch announcement was made by Siju Prabhakaran, Cluster Head – South Business and the Executive Vice President of ZEEL at an event in Gurugram.
Based on the insights from extensive consumer research, Zee Picchar is designed to be the ultimate destination for fans of Sandalwood movies. With 350+ films in its library, the channel boasts of a wide spectrum of films across genres and generations from the industry’s finest stars that ranges from Mayura, Milana, Jogi, BulBul to Kurukshetra &Pailwaan, among many others. The library also includes four out of the top five highest ever rated films like DoddmaneHudga, Nattasarvabhowma, Hebbuli and The Villain. The channel is set to telecast 12 Picchar Premieres in 12 days, in its first month of launch.
