With the recent exit of Disney and Star India’s Country Manager, Sanjay Gupta; the top spot at the country’s biggest media conglomerate needed to be filled. Uday Shankar seems to have found the successor of Sanjay Gupta internally from the Star Network itself.
K Madhavan, MD for Star India’s South Business has now stepped up to take Sanjay Gupta’s responsibility of being the new Country Manager for Disney and Star India; market sources inform Medianews4u.com. An internal email was sent to all the employees confirming the same.
K Madhavan has led the South Business since 2016 and is an old hand at the network.
Post the Disney-Fox merger Sanjay Gupta was made Country Manager of India and was also responsible for the Studio business of the merged entity. Now, after his exit K Madhavan will take on Gupta’s responsibilities. All functional heads will now report into K Madhavan who will directly report into Uday Shankar, Chairman, Star and Disney India and President The Walt Disney Company, APAC.
