Mumbai: The joint industry body that measures the television audience viewership in India, Broadcast Audience Research Council India, has revealed the names offenders involved in viewership malpractice.
This is the first time BARC India has ever come out openly to reveal the names of Broadcast networks that have been involved in malpractice to tamper with the viewership measurement.
The disciplinary committee of BARC India has revealed that News 7 Odia owned by Bhubaneshwar based Summa Real Media Pvt. Ltd. and Bflix Movies owned by Indirect Media are the two offenders of viewership malpractice.
News7 Odia is a 24×7 news channel from the house of Prameya News7 Group. On the other hand Bflix Movies is a FTA Hindi movies channel launched by Indirect Media, promoted by Mr. Ashish Choudhary, Mr. Harish Kotak & Mr. Vishal Gurnani, headquartered in Mumbai. The channel broadcasts classic and contemporary movies of Bollywood as well as the South India regional movies dubbed in Hindi.
It is understood that BARC India’s disciplinary committee has revealed the names of these Broadcasters as they have been found tampering the BARC Viewership data for the second time. However, it unclear what kind of action will be initiated against the offending parties.
