New Delhi: RED FM, one of the largest and most awarded private radio networks in India has launched an initiative on voting awareness as a build-up to 2019’s general election. The initiative ‘Ab Watan Dabayega Button’ aims at creating awareness around voting and helps in creating a milestone voter turnout. The initiative will specially focus on educating and resolving queries of youngsters who feel voting doesn’t make a difference.
The objective is to keep in mind the first-time voters – people who have just crossed 18 or people who haven’t voted despite crossing 18 many years ago because they think voting doesn’t makes a difference. RED FM will resolve their queries and they will be made to realise that every single vote is important in the manifestation of a better future for India. By capturing the first-time voters, the aim is to inculcate voting as a habit so that they continue voting in elections for years to come. RED FM has tied up with the Election Commission of India for this initiative and RED FM RJ’s have been declared the ‘Youth Ambassadors’ in their respective cities. RJ Raunac aka Bauaa will be leading this campaign in Delhi as the ‘Youth Ambassadors’.
Encouraging first time voters, Nisha Narayanan, COO, RED FM, says, “Voting is crucial for every citizen to choose their leaders of tomorrow. Being a medium of mass appeal, we want to use the strength of our network to sensitize everyone about the significance of each vote which can create a colossal difference in the long run. ‘Ab Watan Dabayega Button’ is Red FM’s humble effort to make a difference. Our RJs are the ‘Youth Ambassadors’ in individual cities and we are emphasizing on young voters who have just turned 18. As for older voters who have given up hope on this nation, we want them to share equal responsibility for building India. We are all obliged to be accountable to ourselves as well as to our fellow citizens to create a bright future where we foster community building and a shared goal. Instead of debating on a better tomorrow- this campaign aims to mobilize positivity in voting with the central theme of the nation shall vote in a truly ‘Bajaate Raho’ style.
As the voice of the mass, radio has a social responsibility to create a uniform platform for pertinent discussions on socio-political and cultural issues. There is no better time than the upcoming general election where a massive change is expected to sweep this country which will push for further development. Reaffirming its commitment towards a healthy society, RED FM is all set to generate maximum buzz around voting awareness, so that every Indian voter steps up and do the needful.
