Chennai: Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV) has issued Auction Notice to Broadcasters as the corporation has intended to auction LCN allotment of Satellite Free-to-Air (FTA) and Pay channels by collecting the Placement Fee for the allotment of Logical Channel Number (LCN) in digital transmission throughout Tamil Nadu.
TACTV has opened up Top Slots and LCNs with Fancy Numbers for auction that includes 11 LCNs for GEC / Shopping genre, 5 LCNs for Music Channels, 6 LCNs for Movie Channels, 5 LCNs for Sports (One Tamil + 4 English), 5 LCNs for Infotainment, 6 LCNs for Kids Channels, 5 LCNs for English News, 5 LCNs for English Movie Channels, 5 LCNs for Hindi GECs and 5 LCNs for Religious Channels in Tamil.
The auction will be held on 10th January 2019 at 11.00 AM at the Arasu Cable TV premises located at Marshalls Road in Egmore, Chennai.
Broadcasters willing to participate in the auction will have to pay Entry fee of Rs 50,000 for the Auction along with the Supporting documents that includes Copy of both uplink and downlink certificate of License and Registration certificateto operate the Satellite Channel in India.
The highest quoted price in the auction over in each LCN will be awarded the top LCN and subsequently in lower order for other bidders with lower quote. The monthly Billing for Placement Fee will be based on the SMS report for the number of all Active STBs.
On receipt of the Letter of Acceptance from the TACTV, the successful Channel should remit a Security Deposit of One month advance that equals to 36 lakh STBs of TACTV multiplied by LCN rate fixed (36 lacs STBs x LCN rate per STB), by way of Demand Draft.
The successful awardee would be given the contract for a period of one year. The channels are not allowed cancel the contract within one year. However, TACTV has reserved the right to terminate the contract and change LCN due to issue like non-payment of dues.
Arasu Cable TV has conducted the first round ofAuction for fixation of Placement Fee for the allotment of LCN recently. However, it has decided to go against it owing to poor response from the Broadcasters due to lack of clarity and confusion over the roll out of New Tariff Rules by TRAI.
