Chennai: For the first time in the history of Tamil Satellite Television history, a Non Sun TV Network Channel has outnumbered the market leader and claimed leadership in the Prime Time.
Zee Tamil has asserted its leadership by dominating its rival Sun TV’s fiction shows consecutively between 8:30 to 10 PM, which is considered to be the core-prime time in Industry perspective.
According to the BARC data for week 46 under 2+ (U+R) All NCCS category, “Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ – Primetime fiction property aired at 8:30 to 9:00 PM on Zee Tamil has scored 11.95 TVR against its 9.94 TVR scored by “Kanmani” on Sun TV. On the other hand “NenjamMarapathillai” on Vijay TV aired in same time slot managed to delivered 3.97 TVR.
Between 9:00 to 9:30 PM, Zee Tamil’s top-rated fiction show “Chembaruthi” has displayed its supremacy with 14.23 TVR against 10.07 TVR delivered by its Sun TV counterpart Nandhini. While Vijay TV’s Aranmanaikili scored a mean 3.17 TVR.
Zee Tamil’s fiction show “OruOorlaOruRajakumari” at 10 PM has overtaken its Sun TV counterpart Vani Rani in a whisker by scoring 7.15 TVR, while the latter delivered 6.98 TVR. Vijay TV’s Chinna Thambi witnessed 4.53 TVR.
In week 46, Zee Tamil stood at No. 2 among Tamil GECs with 484799 Weekly Impressions (000s) staying ahead of Vijay TV.
Zee Tamil has strategically increased its Production Budgets to enhance the quality of the content that was supported by a young team of creators headed by its programming Head – Tamildasan, who has meticulously driven the channel’s viewership upward with a strong line-up of fiction and Non-fiction properties.
