HOOQ dominates country selections with its original productions – winning National Awards for Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore across different categories
HOOQ, Asia’s first and largest video-on-demand service, swept 12 National Awards at the inaugural Asian Academy Creative Awards 2018 including ‘Best Original Screenplay’, ‘Best Sound’, ‘Best Cinematography’, ‘Best Original Programme by a Streamer/OTT’ with Marlina The Murderer in Four Acts, Best Comedy Programme’ with Aliansi, and drama awards including ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’, ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ and ‘Best Direction (Fiction)’ with Critical Eleven for Indonesia; ‘Best Original Programme by a Streamer/OTT’, ‘Best Comedy Performance’ and ‘Best Comedy Programme’ with Saranae Love You for Thailand; and ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ with How To Be A Good Girl for Singapore.

Fresh From its nomination to represent Indonesia in the race to the Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film; the world’s first “satay western” film Marlina The Murderer in Four Acts continues its winning streak closer to home by walking away with ‘Best Original Screenplay’ awarded to Mouly Surya and Rama Adi, ‘Best Cinematography’ to YunusPasolang, ‘Best Sound’ and ‘Best Original Programme by a Streamer/OTT’ to HOOQ.
Oher notable wins From Indonesia are Aliansi for ‘Best Comedy Programme’ and Critical Eleven for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ to AdiniaWirasti, ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ to Reza Rahardian and ‘Best Direction (Fiction)’ to Monty Tiwa and Robert Rony.
In addition, HOOQ was won a series of National Awards for Thailand and Singapore. Saranae Love You, an action comedy following the whirlwind adventures and misfortunes of two best friends bagged ‘Best Original Programme by a Streamer/OTT’, ‘Best Comedy Programme’ and ‘Best Comedy Performance’ by Mario Maurer. Finalist of HOOQ Filmmakers Guild 2017 How To Be A Good Girl’s Oon Shu Anwas also crowned ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ for Singapore.
