Chennai: Following a year of working slowly and steadily to build the basics, Cauvery News, a premium Tamil television news offering from the home of the Cauvery Group of power plants, is all set to move to bigger and better challenges.
The channel has begun hiring the best of talent in the Tamil news industry. The new Executive Editor will be Ganesh Mariadoss, former Editor of Jaya TV who has vast experience in managing input in News18 Tamil Nadu, PuthiyaThalaimurai and Sun TV.
“Ganesh brings with him a wealth of experience and the ability to handle the daily rigour of a vibrant newsroom and this is exciting for Cauvery News,” said RBU Shyam Kumar, President, Cauvery News. “We are now shifting focus to aggressive news formats and looking to bring to the Tamil audience a neutral, fearless journalism that no one else is offering or can offer,” he added.

Many senior talents who were instrumental in bringing innovations to Tamil News industry during their previous employment with other News channels, on boarded the new Cauvery editorial and production team.
Sandhya Ravishankar will jointly handle editorial and production operations along with Ganesh Mariadoss. She has 14 years of experience as a journalist and has worked in a number of large media houses in Chennai , Hyderabad and Mumbai including the Network18 Group and Times Group.
“The television viewing audience of Tamil Nadu has lost faith in the media which is unfortunately being viewed as biased or skewed towards one political agenda or the other,” said Sandhya Ravishankar. “With Cauvery News we are going to put to rest this crisis of credibility and ensure that viewers get the unfiltered truth,” she said.
Also part of the team is Ganesh Ramachandran who was honed as an anchor in PuthiyaThalaimurai. His is a familiar face to viewers of Tamil news channels and he is all set to take the lead in burning a path ahead for Cauvery News.
“We want to go back to the basics of journalism and not just do news for the sake of it,” said Ganesh Ramachandran. “Anchors will not be just newsreaders but journalists. And we are all going to fan out in the state to bring to our viewers news that is relevant and important to them,” he added.
The focus of Cauvery News’ new team will be on interactive news formats, fact checked and researched information and presenting a wholesome picture for the viewer on every issue.
