Mumbai: &Privé HD, is all set to premiere the biographical drama ‘Maudie’ on Saturday, 7th July at 1:00pm and 9:00pm. Directed by Aisling Walsh, the movie stars powerhouse performers Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawk in pivotal roles.
Set in 1930s Nova Scotia, Maudie is the story of Maudie Lewis (Hawkins), a woman suffering from rheumatoid arthritis who lives with her Aunt Ida. After an incident that breaks her heart, she decides to seek independence, taking up job as a housekeeper for a poor fish seller, Everett Lewis (Hawk). Finding solace in each other’s eccentricities, Maudie and Everett marry each other. However, their antagonistic personalities lead to Maudie suffering beatings from Everett whenever she doesn’t do what he wants. To keep herself happy, Maudie begins to paint the interior of the house with happy pictures, also painting small cards, each picture depicting how she wants to see the world. Her paintings catch the attention of New York socialite and soon her artworks became popular nationally receiving a lot of publicity. In the process, Maudie is able to revisit an issue from her past which she believed had long died in literal sense.
Watching Maudie, there will be those who will feel a woman clinging to her fragile independence, but there will be also be those who will feel an artist’s immeasurable freedom to create.
Maudie will be premiered on July 07 at 1:00PM and 9:00 PM on &Privé HD.
