YouTube has renamed its Red ad-free subscription VOD service YouTube Premium, and has raised its price to $12 per month. The ad-free service previously cost US viewers $10 per month.
The service also now will include access to a new music service, YouTube Music, which will offer ad-free streaming, background listening and the ability to download clips for offline consumption.
The YouTube Music app and desktop player will launch 22 May, while the Premium relaunch is coming “soon.”
YouTube also said that it’s prepping “more, bigger original series and movies” and will expand to Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
