Kolkata: Television continues to be a powerful medium to create awareness and inspire change in viewers. With a surge in societal issues, especially those against women and children in India, television can play the role of a significant instrument to create cognizance. Focusing the much-needed attention to one such grave concern of acid attacks on innocent victims, Colors Bangla hopes to usher a change with its latest show inspired by true events – Aloy Bhubon Bhora.
Starting May 14, the channel takes the baton to change mindsets and narrate an emotional and stirring journey of Shruti, who falls prey to the unchecked heinous act of an acid attack. Shruti (played by Roshni Bhattacharya) is a charming and bubbly girl who aspires to be a singer. But on the eve of her wedding, Shruti becomes the victim to an acid attack by an unknown assailant. Maimed by not only the physical pain inflicted by the attack but also the emotional wrenching, Shruti’s spirit has been defeated. Finding inspiration from the zeal and determination of other victims, Shruti begins to pick up the pieces of her life and starts her journey of rediscovering herself despite all the adversities.
Commenting on the decision of brining a real-life based social-drama, Rahul Chakravarti – Business Head, Colors Bangla and Colors Odia said, “As a society, we are at a very delicate juncture, with more and more sinister crimes are being committed, and the public attention to these acts being short-lived. At COLORS Bangla, we have decided to get the blinders off and focus the spotlight on one such grave misdeed, that needs to be dealt with swiftly and rightly. Through Shruti, our protagonist in Aloy Bhubon Bhora, we narrate a story that needs to be heard by all, of an innocent girl that becomes victim to an unchecked crime, yet finds a way to survive and thrive. We are certain that the show will not only engage with viewers but also rouse consciousness in them.”
Produced by Surinder Films, starting May 14, Aloy Bhubhon Bhora airs every day at 8pm on Colors Bangla.
