New Delhi: Reacting strongly to the allegations made by ZEE Entertainment against his company, the CEO of DEN Networks, SN Sharma has refuted the charges and accused them of filing frivolous cases as Zee Channels in were placed on a-la-carte instead of being packaged on their monthly plans.
Speaking exclusively to tvnews4u.com -SN Sharma, CEO, DEN Networks said, “I am surprised to hear this. We haven’t received any notice and in fact recently BECIL (Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited) conducted our audit and gave us a clean chit. Because we have put Zee channels on a-la-carte, they are not happy and coming out with such frivolous cases. We follow the law of the land.”
It may be noted that on 7th February 2018,TDSAT has Rules in favor of DEN Networks directing ZEE Entertainment to provide channels on RIO Basis in a dispute due to outstanding dues and non-renewal of their commercial arrangement between DEN and ZEE Entertainment, which expired on December 31, 2017. This ruling enabled DEN Network to remove all Zee and Turner channels from its monthly packages.
Earlier, Zee Group has launched a complaint dated 27th February to Information and Broadcasting Ministry stating that DEN is supplying signals in an unencrypted and non-addressable mode in DAS notified areas by taking Zee channels from a DTH Set Top Box and retransmitting the channels through its Cable Networks and asked for the cancellation of DEN’s DAS license for violating Section 4A of the Cable Television Network Regulation Act 1995 and the terms of license conditions issued by I&B Ministry.
