New Delhi: What if a girl were to start singing Alha, a genre of Rajput martial songs that had, until now, only been sung by men? Or what if a young orphan ran away to Delhi to fulfil her dream of scaling Mount Everest? What did they face to get there?
These are the kinds of inspirational stories that are covered in The Neelesh Misra Show, an all new web series brought by The Quint in collaboration with Gaon Connection, a Hindi news platform with a focus on rural India.
The stories featured on the show examine the changing face of India through the eyes of one of its best loved storytellers, Neelesh Misra. It has an underlying theme of ‘Hamare Hero Hamare aas-pas hain’ i.e ‘Our heroes are among us’. Each episode chronicles the lives of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for society and shines the light on unusual heroes working in the areas of women empowerment, health, farming and rural aspirations.
Neelesh Misra says “at Gaon Connection we have been telling stories related to the heartland for five years now. But it is really exciting for me personally that we are collaborating with The Quint to take these stories to a far bigger, English and Hindi speaking audience in urban India. I hope our show will help them better understand issues that are often on the margins of mainstream media.”
The Neelesh Misra show will premier on 27th February, 2018. The show will consist of 26 episodes, and will be available on Quint Hindi’s YouTube channel & Facebook account as well.
