Mumbai: The Indian romantic drama series “Saraswathichandra” that talks about the story of SarasandKumud will make its debut on U.S. Spanish-language televisionPasiones.
The award-winning series tells the story of two star-crossed lovers. The soulmates are deeply in love but are not allowed to be together due to tradition.
The Star India hit premieres at 5 p.m. on 12th February on Pasiones, a U.S. network dedicated to airing telenovelas and drama series in Spanish.
“Indian series have become increasingly popular over the years, and as a network committed to showcasing the top telenovelas from across the globe, we are thrilled to bring this trending genre to Pasiones viewers for the first time with the premiere of Saras&Kumud, which has seen great success in Latin America,” said Francisco Gimenez, the general manager of cable networks for Hemisphere Media Group, Pasiones’ parent company. “Pasiones is the only destination on television where U.S. viewers can see an Indian novela in Spanish.”
Saraswatichandra is an Indian soap opera and romantic drama, initially produced by Sanjay LeelaBhansali and written by Ved Raj and AbhijitSinha. The show was initially based on Govardhanram Tripathi’s novel of the same name. It aired on Star Plus from 25 February 2013 to 20 September 2014.
