Mumbai: Netflix has revealed the data on first time bingeing trends of Indians on the digital platform that has completed its first year of journey in the country. While globally it takes 12 days for the majority of Netflix members to go all the way on bingeing, the study says that Indian Subscribers just take an average of 5 days to start their first binge.
Binge defined as completing at least one season of a show within 7 days of starting. More than 90% of Netflix members who have been a member for at least one year have completed a first binge. All TV `series were included except for Kids/Family content and seasons with fewer than 5 episodes.
According to Netflix Study based on the data pulled from January 2016, when Netflix launched in India to December 2017, Most Indian streamers are bingeing on the lives of the Colombian drug lords in Narcos making it the most popular show on the list. Stranger Things follows close as the love for Eleven and the gang only gets stronger. They are also falling for shows that are big on drama and action like House of Cards, 13 Reasons Why, Suits, Gossip Girl, Marvel’s Iron Fist and The Crown. The badass ladies (and gents) from Orange Is The New Black and Breaking Bad also found their spot in the Top 10.
Indian Subscribers are equally attracted towards movies, just as much as their shows. Dangal, Baahubali 2, Dear Zindagi are the India’s First watched Films on Netflix. Other films that made to the First watched Films on Netflix includes BA Pass, Piku, Udta Punjab, Raeees, Haraamkhor, No Strings Attached, Now You See Me 2, Rustom and Friends with Benefits. No Strings Attached’ was available on Netflix in India between 14/6/2016 to 14/6/2017 and Friends With Benefits’ was available from 6/1/2016 to 5/1/2017 and again from 31/3/2017 to 30/9/2017.
