Mumbai: #BARCReport2017 has revealed an insight on the Movie viewership trend in 2017 that reveals that the the most popular and Blockbuster movie titles of 2017 has also ruled the TV screens with promising deliveries in terms of viewership ratings. The year 2017 witnessed a number of Indian movies such as Baahubali 2 and Dangal which made many heads turn globally, towards the Indian movies.
Having thrashed many world records, in the history of Indian cinema, the blockbuster bi-lingual movie, Bahubali hit the big screens with its second part ” Bahubali 2 The Conclusion” starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. Bahubali 2 The Conclusion made Rs. 511 crores at the box office while it also never failed to top the most viewed movie title of the year with 26million impressions during its premiere on Sony Max on October 8th 2017 as a part of its Diwali line up.
Following Bahubali The conclusion, the award winning, Amir Khan starrer Dangal has recorded a historic high at that point of time with 16.2 million impressions during the television debut on Zee TV on 21st May 2017.
The action comedy entertainer Judwaa 2 has made Rs. 138 crores at the box office and has garnered 15.2 million impressions during its world television premiere on Star Gold on 24th December 2017. Judwaa 2 is a reboot of Judwaa originally released in 1997. The movie features Varun Dhawan in dual role with Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu as the female lead.
One of the outstanding movie of the year, Toilet : Ek Prem Katha, has made Rs.134 crores at the box office and has recorded 10.9 million impressions on its television premiere as last year’s Gandhi Jayanthi special on Zee Cinema. Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer , intended to create awareness on sanitation in support to the efforts taken by the government especially in the rural area.
Crime action film Raees featuring Shah Rukh Khan& Mahira Khan in the lead roles Kaabil, a crime thriller are the other blockbuster movies of 2017 hitting Rs. 137 crores and Rs. 127 crores respectively at the big screens.
