Mumbai: Zee Classic is all set to air ‘Kai Po Che’ under its property ‘India’s Finest Films’ on Friday, 15th December 2017 at 10 PM. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s book ‘Three Mistakes of my Life’ and directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kai Po Che has won both critical and commercial acclaim. The movie stars Rajkummar Rao, Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh in lead roles. Three friends in Kai Po Che, each represent one side of India — the capitalist (Rajkummar Rao as Govind Patel), the political (Amit Sadh as Omkar Shastri) and the emotional (Sushant Singh Rajput as Ishaan Bhatt).
Touching upon topics that one is likely to come across in their daily lives including cricket, kite flying, love, religion and politics, Kai Po Che taps into the sentiments of every Indian and the many repercussions of incidents like the 2001 Bhuj earthquake and the 2002 Gujarat riots on the lives of unassuming residents.
Friends through thick and thin, Ishaan, Govind and Omi have their own quirks. While Ishaan loses his dream of being a cricketer to politics, Omi’s life remains rooted in politics owing to his family’s background while Govind is a simpleton immersed in business and numbers. Together, these three friends set up a centre for teaching cricket to the local youth. While Govind manages the financial aspects of the business, Ishaan requests him to teach his sister, Vidya (Amrita Puri), mathematics. As love starts to blossom between Govind and Vidya, an earthquake wreaks havoc in everyone’s lives quashing many dreams. And, even as they were just getting their lives in order, the Gujarat riots change their lives altogether.
Since its release, Kai Po Che, a story revolving around dreams and aspirations, friendship standing test of time, the pursuit of excellence, a commentary of our education system and a coming-of-age film, has truly grown to become a classic.
