Mumbai: &TV is all set to make the weekends entertaining with its upcoming comic caper – Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot. The show, a dramedy, revolves around her life, death and afterlife as she returns as a ghost to sort the dysfunctional lives of her family. Produced by JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia’s Hatsoff Productions, the show brings together veteran actors Sarita Joshi as Bakula and Apara Mehta as her sister-in-law Rekha. Premiering 24th June, every Saturday-Sunday at 8.00 pm on &TV, find out how a ghost will salvage the life of the living!
Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot centers around Bakula who is the sole decision-maker of the Raja family, former owners of a dairy. Her over powering nature doesn’t go down well with the family who wish to see her dead. In an interesting turn of events, their prayers are answered as Bakula finds herself stranded between heaven and earth. Thus, begins the journey of Bakula who even after her death continues to hold the reins of the family.
Speaking about the same, Sarita Joshi who plays Bakula said, “I was looking out to portray an exciting character on screen for a long time and then as luck would have it J D Majethia approached me with the character of Bakula and I instantly said yes. I am thrilled to be a part of this project as the concept of the show is different. For the first time, I will be seen playing a ghost on television, which is exciting for me. I love experimenting with newer roles and I’m sure Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot will connect with the audience.”
Elaborating on her role, Apara Mehta who plays Rekha said, “Rekha is unlike any character that I have portrayed till date. As a saas she is very different; she is more of a friend to her daughter-in-laws and shares a saas-bahu relationship with her nanad Bakula. She loves to dance and will be seen breaking into a garba every now and then. Her personality is very colourful and extremely fun to portray. The show has an interesting concept with a quirky approach which I am sure will have the audience in splits. I have known Saritaji for so many years but never had the opportunity to work with her. Also, really excited about collaborating with J D Majethia and looking forward to this journey.”
Speaking about the same, producer Jamnadas Majethia (JD) said, “Bakula Bua ka Bhoot is a perfect mix of humour, emotions, drama, mischief, love & romance not just for the youth but for young at heart topped with the divine mythology comic elements. A complete family entertainer for an Indian family which is missing on the weekends for now.”
Speaking about the same, Aatish Kapadia, writer/director/co-producer shared, “Can a dead woman teach her family how to live life better? Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot is a sweet sour take on the unfulfilled wishes of a mischievous ghost and her afterlife adventures with her dysfunctional family.”
Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot boasts of a powerhouse ensemble cast that includes stars like Deepak Pareek, Tulika Patel, Amit Varma and Muskan Bhamne amongst others in pivotal roles.
