Parminder Singh has been hired by Mediacorp to fill the newly created role of chief commercial and digital officer. He is the former managing director of Twitter for South East Asia, who left the social media company in November last year during a global restructuring exercise.
Prior to joining Twitter in 2013, he was Google’s managing director for display solution sales in Asia Pacific. Known as ‘Parry’, Singh has more than 20 years of experience in global companies including Apple and IBM.
Mediacorp said his role combines what were previously two separate positions in the company. They are those of Shane Mitchell’s, who led Mediacorp’s digital group for the last two years, and Jack Lim – who headed up Mediacorp’s commercial group.
Both men are leaving the company. Mediacorp said Mitchell resigned recently following his family’s relocation to Hong Kong, but will finish a number of projects over the next three months before he departs. Meanwhile, Lim will be on leave until his last day of service in June.
Singh will report to Mediacorp’s chief executive Shaun Seow, who said: “Our monetisation efforts need to be more closely aligned with our digital product development, operations, audience acquisition and content marketing efforts. In our continuous search for talent, this meant that if we found a candidate qualified and willing to head the commercial and digital groups, we would combine the leadership roles to accelerate our progress in both areas.”
