Mumbai: In a major shift from its earlier stand BARC has unilaterally withdrew it’s suspension order against V6 News channel.
When the matter was listed on Tuesday for considering staying of BARC India’s proceedings, strangely BARC’s counsel informed the court about withdrawal of its proceedings against V6 News. The court recorded the same and posted the suit for further consideration.
According to Mr Chandrashekhar, Legal council of V6News, “The Channel was fighting for justice against the action of the BARC India could successfully put it’s point that the whole action of the BARC India with four weeks ratings suspension was unjustified”.
The channel could successfully put it’s point that the whole action of the BARC was unjustified. The agency which had no option other than to withdraw it’s proceedings informed Justice Kathawala of Mumbai High court that it would release the ratings”. The current ratings as usual by giving ratings to V6 News channel also”.
While BARC India’s council agreed for releasing the ratings from this week. The court has asked for the status of the previous three week’s data. Apparently BARC India agreed to release the ratings for those three weeks also, subjected to the condition that V6 news must withdraw its defamation suit. Whereas V6 News refused to back down on its defamation suit claiming damages of Rs 11 Crore.
It may be recalled that earlier, V6 News challenged the action of ratings BARC India by filing a suit claiming Rs. 11 Cr damages against BARC India in Mumbai high Court.
Speaking to tvnews4u.com Partho Dasgupta – CEO BARC India Said, “BARC India respects ad-interim order of court, and is following through on implementing the same with respect to its subscriber data with effect from this week. As the matter remains subjudice, it would not be appropriate to say anything beyond this at the moment.*
