Chennai: K Sriram has moved on from Vijay TV, ending his 16 years long association with Star India’s Tamil GEC Vijay TV.
Sriram joined Vijay TV as Head of Ad Sales in the year May 2000, while the Channel was owned by Ronnie Screwvala’s UTV and continued his stint with the channel after the same was being acquired by Star India in 2001.
After a brief spell in Ad Sales function, Star India elevated him as General Manager of Vijay TV in 2008 and assigned him the responsibility of running the channel. Since then he was in the helm of affairs of Star Vijay, heading the Strategy, Business and Programming affairs of the channel.
He was instrumental in positioning the channel as strong No. 2 in Tamil GEC space with a mix of Programming line-up that has attracted a set of elite and captive audience towards Vijay TV. He also structured the core team of the channel by roping in a team of talent in various verticals.
During his tenure Sriram has raised the bar of the Channel’s programming standards by setting up a new bench mark of quality and escalated the popularity of reality shows and event properties like Vijay Awards.
While confirming the development to tvnews4u.com, Sriram said that he is taking a small break before announcing his next assignment.
Meanwhile, Star India has elevated Balachandran (aka) Lintas Bala as Dy Business Head of Star Vijay and assigned him the responsibility of running the channel. Bala was a talent identified by Sriram, who moved into Broadcasting space from Agency side. He was heading the marketing function of the channel for more than a decade.
