Mumbai : Turkey’s State broadcaster, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), had a meeting with Doordarshan and both the State-owned companies are set to sign an MOU (memorandum of understanding) for collaboration in content sharing.
The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce brought together Turkey’s leading content industry representatives to meet the Indian media and entertainment industry at the ‘Turkey Home of Content’ booth at Ficci Frames 2016.
The meeting occurred through the good offices of the Turkish Republic’s Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi and the Turkish Consul General in Mumbai.
Founded in 1882, The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce boasts of being the third largest industry chamber in the world. The leading Turkish companies participating in the delegation were Ayyapim, Kadraj, Kanal 7, Outline Ajans, Pana Film, Tac Medya, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation and ULKE TV. The high powered delegation, supported by the Turkish government, is actively seeking collaborations with Indian media and entertainment companies in the areas of film and television content.
Turkey is the world’s leading original content producer, “touching the souls of billions of people” in nearly 100 countries from Latin America to West Asia and from North Africa to Asia. Turkey’s export of original content is expected to rise to US $1 billion by 2023.
In an effort to further strengthen its ties with the city of Mumbai and Bollywood, Turkish delegations had a meeting with the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI). Turkey is in talk with the organizers of the MAMI film festival, to showcase Turkish cinema at the festival in October this year.
Turkey’s ambassador to India, Burak Akcapar said, “TheTurkish delegation is very encouraged with the initial response at the day conclave and Turkey is predicting content exports of $20 million to India by 2018.”
