Mumbai : Ajay Vidyasagar, Regional Director, APAC, YouTube & Google Video Solutions will join the YouTube APAC team as Director of Partnerships. In this role, he will manage India Core Partnerships organization and will also be responsible for Google’s broader cross-functional YouTube related initiatives for India, said Google. He will continue to be based out of Singapore and in addition to his India responsibilities will also drive forward key content initiatives across APAC on a regional basis.
“India has always been an extremely important market for YouTube where we’ve seen a lot of success and engagement from our partners and Ajay will lead our efforts going forward in a market that holds tremendous potential for us across partnerships, usage and revenue,” said the spokesperson.
Mr. Ajay Vidyasagar has been associated with Google Inc. since May 3, 2011. Previously, Mr. Vidyasagar served as Chief Operating Officer of Sun TV Network Ltd. from June 15, 2009 to March 2011. Mr. Vidyasagar joined Sun TV Network in June 2009, where he was instrumental in increasing the revenue figure by two folds. Prior to Sun TV, he served as the President of Content and New Media of Star India Private Limited since May 2007, where he worked for 14 years.
He started his stint with STAR India way back in 1996 as part of the Chennai team of the network. He subsequently shifted to Mumbai, where he was part of STAR India’s marketing team and served as the Commercial Director of Channel [V], the network’s music channel. At Vijay TV, he served as Head of the regional business until 2000. He served as General Manager, Regional Channels at STAR India. In 2004, he moved back to Mumbai to head the marketing function of STAR India as Executive Vice-President.
It may be noted that another poplar name in Indian Media and Advertising sector Punitha Arumugam, who also joined Google couple of years before has moved out of the tech giant recently and her future plans were not known.
