MEC has made changes to its global management team, setting it up to continue to develop and thrive, Charles Courtier, the Global CEO of MEC announced today.
Stuart Bowden, formerly joint CEO of MEC in the UK has been named as Global Chief Strategy Officer.
Pele Cortizo-Burgess, formerly Global Integrated Planning Director has been named as Global Chief Creative Officer.
Commenting on the appointment of Stuart Bowden, Charles Courtier said, “As one of the world’s largest and most innovative media companies, MEC is positioned firmly at the crossroads where data, technology and creativity merge. Stuart’s role will be responsible for designing, integrating and championing MEC’s strategic product and applying it to our clients business; as well as looking at the long term development of the agency. I’m delighted that Stuart is taking on this challenge. I can think of no one better in our industry today to drive our business forward.”
Stuart said, “The one true deliverable skill of a great CSO is to attract, support and amplify the ability of individuals to produce better insights, better work, better product and better client relationships. We need to challenge perceptions of what ‘good enough’ is and to encourage our teams to create and own innovation. This is a shift from the status quo rather than managing the world as it is. And that’s my ambition. MEC is seen as quietly intelligent, we need to crank up the volume and be recognised as the high energy thinkers and creators we are.”
On Pele’s appointment, Courtier Courtier said, “Our leadership in innovation and creativity is an essential part of the agency’s future. Pele will accelerate the pace of change at MEC, driving an agenda for innovation and compelling work. The ultimate goal of this role is to get better award winning work for our clients in every corner of the network. This is the perfect role for Pele and given his award-winning track record, one that I know he will excel at.”
Pele said, “I love the MEC network, and I love our clients! To have the ability to work within such diverse teams to create ideas and then bring them to life through media and comms is really exciting for me. And especially to help make their ideas dynamic, compelling and connected to what people care about. We have a real commitment to creativity within MEC and it’s transformational for a media company when we place creativity at the heart of everything we do: be it a plan reimagined, a story told in a ground breaking way or packaging an idea so it gains traction within a client’s company culture.”
Stuart is based in London. Pele, in New York.
As a result of these announcements, Jason Dormieux becomes sole CEO for MEC in the UK.
