New Delhi: LinkedIn has a new country manager for India, the business social network’s second biggest market globally after the US.
Akshay Kothari is to take on the role of head of LinkedIn India, moving from California, where he was LinkedIn’s principal product manager, to Bengaluru, India.
He replaces Nishant Rao, who leaves LinkedIn after almost three years in the top national role for CRM firm Freshdesk where he is now global COO.
The news emerged via a story Kothari posted on the business social network announcing his move today.
Kothari wrote: “I’m excited to announce that I have taken up a new role inside LinkedIn to become the Country Manager and Head of Product for our India operations. LinkedIn already has a strong presence in India, with over 33 million members and 600 employees.”
“I want to build on that strong momentum and start creating products that are “Made in India, for India”. These products, like our new Placements product, will initially address the Indian member base, but have the potential to be used globally across our 400 million members. I’m excited to get started. I’m coming home,” he said.
In the US, Kothari led LinkedIn’s content operations, including the LinkedIn Pulse app, LinkedIn Publishing Platform, the Linkedin Influencer program and Newsle.
