Mumbai : Big FM has done an exclusive coverage and extended a rousing welcome to Para Cyclist Aditya Mehta completing his journey from India Gate in Delhi to spread awareness that ended in Mumbai on Sunday 20th December.
After successfully completing the journey from Manali to Khardunga La in 2014, Hyderabad-based Para-cyclist, Aditya Mehta, who runs ‘Aditya Mehta Foundation’ has completed his another sojourn on his cycle. Started from Delhi on 14th December at India Gate and Ended in Mumbai on December 20 at Gateway of India.
Big FM being the Radio Partner of the awareness campaign and fund raising program. It has covered the whole event and in-fact done an extensive arrangements to welcome the Para Cyclist Aditya Mehta at the end of his journey in Mumbai.
Aditya was accompanied by IPS officer Akun Sabharwal and Telangana State Vice President, Youth Congress Mr. Rajeev Reddy Malchety on his 1450 kms journey from Delhi to Mumbai.
IPS Officer Akun Sabharwal has been a constant support throughout the ride. He came forward and accompanied Aditya on his endurance ride and has also shown keen dedication towards the cause.
Riding on one limb Aditya faced a lot of trouble during his ride. A fall, bruised knee, painful ankle are just to name a few. Imagine the hardships he might have faced while going uphill just on one leg!
B.Shravan – CEO of Vignan educational institutions in Hyderabad, M.Vinay Babu –Vice President & Academics Head-Banking at HCL Talent care from Chennai, Deep Udeshi –Owner,Vibrant Publishers from Mumbai and Abhishek Kumar –Standard Charted Bank from Mumbai came forward to join Aditya in his last 500kms ride till Mumbai.
Shreya Saran, actress received Aditya and his team at the Gateway of India on completion of his ride.
The team was then hosted by Governor of Maharashtra Mr. Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao at his residence. He was very supportive for the cause and complimented the team for completing the ride.
Aditya said that this six days journey would have not been possible without a strong team and he is thankful to his co-riders and his crew, Disha, Dr. Prajaktha, Dr. Upasana, Naresh, Seenu & Swami and the support extended by Big FM.
The endurance ride intended to raise funds for the ‘Aditya Mehta Foundation’ to provide amputees with artificial limbs, fund their education and provide sports equipment specially designed for the physically challenged. In addition to it, it aims to raise awareness about sports for the athletes with disabilities and also help the personnel from Police and Paramilitary forces, who lost their limbs when on duty.
Aditya, holds a double silver medal at the Asian Para-Cycling Championships held in 2013.
He lost a leg in an accident few years back. The fact that Adyta’s right leg had to be amputated above the knee did not deter his determination to indulge in sports and he got addicted to cycling. Thereafter, he started to organise such rides to spread awareness and raise funds for the needy.
Earlier, Honourable Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sri Krishan Pal Gurjar, flagged off the ride at Delhi on 14th December.
