National: Filmfare has announced the winners for the 68th edition of the Filmfare Awards South 2023. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last year’s awards for films released between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, were not held. Despite this, Filmfare remains committed to honouring the exceptional talent in South cinema and their significant contributions to the industry as a whole.
In Telugu cinema, RRR won Best Film, N.T.R. JR and Ram Charan received Best Actor (Male), Mrunal Thakur got Best Actor (Female) for Sita Ramam, and S. S. Rajamouli won Best Director by Popular Choice for RRR.
Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 won Best Film Tamil Award; Mani Ratnam received Best Director Popular Choice Tamil for the film. Kamal Haasan and Sai Pallavi were named Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) Tamil for Vikram and Gargi.
Darshana Rajendran won Best Actor (Female) for her role in Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, and Kunchacko Boban won Best Actor (Male) for Nna Thaan Case Kodu. The film Nna Thaan Case Kodu also took home the Best Film Award. Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval won Best Director for the same film.
Kiranraj K won Best Director Kannada for 777 Charlie; Kantara took Best Film Kannada. Chaithra J Achar won Best Actress Kannada for Taledanda. Rishab Shetty was named Best Actor Kannada for Kantara.
